FCG and OmniRIM Solutions Develop Connector to Better Manage Mandated Records' Requirements

Connector provides integration of records' repositories with industry-leading content management systems

NEW YORK - (Business Wire) - First Consulting Group, Inc. (FCG) (NASDAQ: FCGI), a leading enterprise content management (ECM) solution provider in the life sciences industry, and OmniRIM Solutions, Inc., a leading records management software developer, today announced that they have co-developed a Connector to tie together records systems with content management systems in an effort to ease the burden of managing mandated records' requirements. The Connector integrates OmniRIM's Records Management Solution with industry-leading content management products, including FCG's own market-leading ECM solution for life sciences enterprises, FirstDocTM.

The Connector enables life sciences firms to address record-keeping requirements mandated by the FDA and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act without having to invest in entirely new systems. With Sarbanes-Oxley alone, enterprises must improve the timeliness, control, and predictability with which they distribute and manage information throughout their business. According to Gartner Group, 65% of executives across industries believe they will need to make substantial changes to their company's IT infrastructure to meet the demands of the Sarbanes-Oxley.

"With more stringent regulatory and legal record keeping requirements, records management has become a top priority for most life sciences organizations," said Mark Vermette, director of clinical solutions for FCG's Life Sciences practice. "The connector now enables organizations to automatically and consistently solve their records management challenges by integrating OmniRIM with already existing content management applications. There is no need for the costly and time consuming implementation of a replacement repository solution and companies get access to a cutting-edge, complementary records management solution in OmniRIM."

"We believe that FCG and OmniRIM currently offer the most comprehensive solution available to Life Sciences enterprises," said Ian Gordon, President, OmniRIM Solutions. "Our product's core capabilities are now fully leveraged by integrating into FCG's solution suite. Companies can now achieve a successful records management strategy by implementing a single records management/content management solution."

About the Solution

The OmniRIM Connector is among several that FCG is developing to connect its ECM solution suite to other best-of-breed third-party products, thus giving clients a single integrated platform from which to manage enterprise-wide content, data, and processes. FCG's FirstDoc solution suite delivers ECM functionality specific to the life sciences industry without the need for costly customization. Electronic content can be authored, reviewed, circulated and approved within FirstDoc, and at the point consistent with business rules that an item becomes an official record, the configured OmniRIM Connector creates the record and a unique bar code is assigned to the electronic content item. From this point, the content is managed using a company's established records management policies, simplifying and streamlining the entire record creation and archiving process.
